Summer baseball, softball coaches introduced; practice schedules set
Holyoke City Rec Department is gearing up for the summer baseball and softball season.
Baseball games start the week of May 29 and will be on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings at 4:30 p.m., 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Softball games begin the week of May 22 and are scheduled on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6 p.m.
A game schedule will be released once it is complete.
Head baseball coach Trevor Dalton brings experience from nine years of playing baseball and two years of coaching. In high school, he earned All-Conference honors twice and honorable mention once. As a sport and exercise science major at the University of Northern Colorado, Dalton said he will bring a lot of fun, joy, discipline and healthy competitiveness to the program.
Sam Distefano, assistant baseball coach, has years of coaching experience, including head baseball coach for Holyoke High School, assistant baseball coach for Buckley Bombers, assistant football coach for Holyoke Junior High and coaching positions for the Niwot baseball program, where he also competed on his high school team. He already knows many of the local players since he is a teacher for grades 5-6 at Holyoke Elementary. Distefano brings a passion and love for the game in addition to a large background of baseball knowledge.
