Martinez is magna cum laude grad

Benjamin Martinez Jr. graduated magna cum laude from Regis University in Denver Sunday, May 7, with a Bachelor of Science degree in computational physics.
Throughout his time at Regis, Martinez has participated in the university’s guitar ensemble, jazz band and multicultural affairs committee and has worked at the local radio station, KRCX.
During his sophomore year, he began working for Dr. Fredrick Gray, where Martinez worked on constructing a particle detector for the Muon g-2 Experiment. He was able to travel to Chicago, San Francisco and Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, to further his research and present his part in the experiment.
Martinez ended his college career by receiving the Campion Physics Award.
Next semester, the graduate plans to attend Colorado State University in Fort Collins where he has been accepted into the mechanical engineering graduate program. Martinez will also be working as a teacher’s assistant this fall and a research assistant next spring.
Martinez is a 2013 Holyoke High School graduate and the son of Benjamin Martinez of Holyoke and Graciela Martinez of El Paso, Texas.
