12 letterwinners lead Dragon football

    Holyoke High School football promises strong leadership with an impressive 12 returning letterwinners.
    Led by a new coaching staff  and returning letterwinners, it should be a good year for Holyoke football, starting with the season opener at home against Bridgeport, Nebraska, Friday, Sept. 1, at 7 p.m.
    Returning letterwinners are seniors Drew Stewart and Matt Yost; juniors Jesus Trejo, Jaqueline Mosqueda, Chase Beckner, Caleb Deaver and Trent Huffman; and sophomores Blake Mosenteen, Michael Ramos, Luis Chafino, Slaten Burris and Seth Watson.
    Others on the team include seniors Marvin Canitz, Brandon Nevarez, Monse Conde and Luke Krogmeier; juniors Isaiah Gifford, Gage Tuell, Mauro Morales and Alex Vieselmeyer; sophomores Anthony Rojo, Miguel Soto, Hunter Bergstrom, Alexis Vega, Kevin Conde, Nain Vasquez, Andrew Rivera and Peter Betley; and freshmen Aaron Sierra, Victor Baeza, Isaiah Houghtelling, Alec Sprague, Michael Pell, Ethan Andersen and Robert Soukup.
    Taking over as head coach this year is Holyoke native, Dusty Sprague. After graduating from HHS in 2003, Sprague attended the University of Colorado-Boulder where he played and lettered in football. After graduation, Sprague accepted a position at CSU-Pueblo where he was the wide receiver coach for the football team.
