After a frightening Friday morning car accident, Holyoke High School senior Drew Stewart is home and on the road to recovery, and doctors are confident that his body will continue healing itself with time.
Holyoke Volunteer Fire Department was called to the scene at 7:49 a.m. on Aug. 25. According to the Colorado State Patrol report, Stewart was northbound on Phillips County Road 43, two miles east of the stoplight in Holyoke, in a 2011 Ford Edge. A semitruck driven by 57-year-old Patrick Brophy of Wray, was eastbound on Highway 6. When Stewart failed to stop at a stop sign, the driver’s side of his car was struck by the semi. Brophy did not sustain any injuries.
