Scott hospitalized awaiting liver

Phillips County Road and Bridge Assistant Supervisor Kevin Scott, 59, was hospitalized at the University of Colorado Hospital at Anschutz in Denver Tuesday, Aug. 22, where he awaits a liver transplant. Scott suffers from fatty liver disease, also known as nonalcoholic cirrhosis of the liver.
After attending an appointment at the medical center, Scott was hospitalized and given antibiotics for an infection. At that time, test results confirmed his liver score was high enough to be No. 1 on the transplant waiting list.
He will remain in the hospital until a liver becomes available. Scott will be No. 1 on the list until Friday, Sept. 1, when he will be re-evaluated. As of Monday morning, Aug. 28, his liver score remained high.
Scott said he is tired but strong enough to walk around the hospital.
Scott is mayor pro tem on the Holyoke City Council, which he says he loves. He said members of the council told him to take as much time as he needs to get well, which made him very happy.
