Norteño music coming to town Saturday

    Los Huracanes del Norte will headline at the Phillips County Event Center Saturday, Sept. 9, beginning at 7:30 p.m. The Holyoke Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with Live Entertainment is promoting the concert which anticipates as many as 800-1,000 people attending.
    Chamber member Jessie Ruiz said this is norteño music which he described as similar to folk or polka music.  Los Huracanes tour schedule this month has already included concerts in Columbus, Ohio, Indianapolis, Indiana, and Sheperdsville, Kentucky.
    The group will perform in Bar Nunn, Wyoming, Friday night, Sept. 8, before coming to Holyoke on Saturday, Sept. 9. Then they perform at the Denver’s Civic Center Park on Sunday, Sept. 10.
    Also featured at the concert is Revancha Norteña and Los Fascinantes De Sinalda.
    The Chamber is helping bring this experience to the community, said Elizabeth Hutches, chamber director. “We are hoping for a successful event and want to keep the relationship going with Live Entertainment to collaborate on future events.”
    Carlos Villalobos of Live Entertainment joined the Holyoke Chamber of Commerce to obtain the nonprofit status in order to qualify for the special event permit, Hutches said. Food and alcoholic beverages will be sold at the concert. No outside food or beverages will be allowed on site.
