Around Town

AWANA kicks off with fun night, sets new times
The AWANA year will begin with a fun night for the whole family Wednesday, Oct. 4, at First Baptist Church, 1000 E. Johnson St. Inflatables will be set up for the kids from 5-6 p.m. while parents complete registration. A free hot dog dinner will be served at 6 p.m., followed by a short info meeting at 6:30 p.m.
Organizers could use help setting up the inflatables. If there is bad weather, there will not be inflatables and the event will begin at 6 p.m.
AWANA is a Bible-oriented children’s club for all boys and girls age 4 through sixth grade.
This year, the time for regular AWANA nights has been changed to 6-7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. Check-in starts at 5:45 p.m.
The new commander in charge of the Holyoke AWANA club is Randy Schafer, with help from Rick Haynes. Leading the three age groups are Joy Schafer, Kim Kingman and Zach Krueger. For more info, call the church at 970-854-2452.
