Schedule blood draws prior to health fair
Blood draws are set for Monday-Friday, Oct. 9-13, from 6:30-9:30 a.m. at the Melissa Memorial Hospital group room. Appointments and walk-ins are welcome. To schedule a time, call 970-854-2241 and ask for the lab. Results can be reviewed with a provider for free at the health fair Saturday morning, Oct. 21.
Holyoke 4th-graders to ‘adopt’ classroom in Texas; school supplies needed
In the wake of Hurricane Harvey, Holyoke Elementary School fourth-graders in Melanie Wheeler’s class chose to “adopt” a fourth-grade classroom in Texas. They have prepared a list of items (and quantities) they would like to collect that will help the Texas class recover from the hurricane.
Items include 12-pack of colored pencils (21), pink/white block erasers (42), big glue sticks (21), 500-pack of college-ruled notebook paper (1), pack of dividers (21), folders (42), 48-pack of pencils (2), college-ruled spiral notebooks (21), 12-pack of colored grading pens (2), eight-pack of large markers (21), basic pack of crayons (21) and kid scissors (21).
The Holyoke students are also collecting any number of elementary-level library books as well as dictionaries/thesauruses appropriate for elementary students.
Supplies can be dropped off at Wheeler’s room at the elementary school. The class will package and ship the items along with a letter showing how much they care. The deadline is Tuesday, Oct. 31. For more information, call the school at 970-854-3411.
4-H to host achievement program
4-H’ers in Phillips County will celebrate a successful year at their annual achievement program Sunday, Oct. 1, at 2 p.m. at Phillips County Event Center in Holyoke.
