Svoboda case moves forward in court
STERLING JOURNAL-ADVOCATE, Oct. 5 — Patrick Svoboda, the Logan County man charged in connection with the Logan-Phillips Wildfire, appeared in district court last week on bond.
On Sept. 28, Svoboda and his attorney, William W. Frankfurt, sought a continuance on the disposition hearing for the charges related to the 32,000-acre wildfire that burned in March. Frankfurt cited issues related to negotiations with landowners for restitution.

Imperial Auction Market rolls out red carpet for contestants, consignors, buyers
IMPERIAL REPUBLICAN, Oct. 5 — Outstanding! That’s how Preston Smith, co-owner of Imperial Auction Market, summed up the weekend that featured the western regional of the 2018 World Livestock Auctioneer Championship and their largest cattle special ever Saturday.
A total of 23 auctioneers from states throughout the Midwest from Texas to Montana, Alabama and Alberta, Canada, competed in Imperial, Nebraska, during the special sale.
They were all vying for one of 10 qualifying spots in the 2018 WLAC to be held next June at Bloomington Livestock Exchange in Bloomington, Wisconsin.
