Daylight saving time ends this weekend
Residents are reminded to set their clocks back one hour Saturday night, Nov. 4, as daylight saving time officially ends at 2 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 5. It’s also a great reminder to change the batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors when resetting the clocks.
Sign up for Turkey Trot by Nov. 10
This year’s Turkey Trot 5K and Family Fun 1 Mile is set for Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 23, at 8:30 a.m. Late registration and check-in are from 8-8:30 a.m. The start line is at Homesteaders Park. To guarantee a T-shirt, participants should turn in forms by Friday, Nov. 10. Forms are available at Holyoke Fitness Club Monday-Thursday between 4:30-6:30 p.m. The event is a fundraiser for Phillips County Family Education Services. Teams, spectators needed for dodgeball
The Holyoke High School chapter of National Honor Society is hosting its 10th annual dodgeball tournament Saturday, Nov. 4, at 3 p.m. at HHS. Teams of six to 10 members (age 12 and up) must be signed up by Thursday, Nov. 2, at 4 p.m. Awards will be given to the winning team, best-dressed team and the best entrance. Creative writings wanted
The Holyoke Enterprise is seeking original creative writings and poetry for a special Christmas issue to be published Thursday, Dec. 21. Deadline is Friday, Nov. 17. Submissions can be dropped off at 130 N. Interocean Ave., mailed to P.O. Box 297, Holyoke, CO 80734, or emailed to editor@jpipapers.
