Nodlinski no ordinary 100-year-old
GRANT TRIBUNE-SENTINEL, Nov. 29 — Milford Nodlinski, more commonly known as “Pete,” will celebrate his 100th birthday on Friday, Dec 1.
Turning 100 is significant enough; however, Nodlinski is no ordinary 100-year-old.
“Everyone always asks, why you living so long? Well I drank good whiskey when I was young,” he joked.
He not only has a great memory and wonderful sense of humor, he is still living at home, using a cellphone and driving the grain cart on his family’s farm in Brule, Nebraska.
The farm, originally plotted and run by Nodlinski’s father, is now operated under the skilled hands of his youngest son, Bob, and grandson, Jeff.
The family farms roughly 3,000 acres, including wheat, corn, millet, sunflowers, peas and beans.
Nodlinski’s father moved to Brule in 1915 and moved the family to the farm when Nodlinski was 4 years old.

Holiday video goes viral over weekend
STERLING JOURNAL-ADVOCATE, Dec. 4 — Sterling Fire Department’s Christmas video went viral over the weekend.
Google “Sterling Colorado Fire Department” and just below the department’s official website you’ll find soft news stories on TV websites from Hampton Roads, Virginia, to Seattle, Washington.
First posted last Thursday, the video shows Sterling fire, rescue and ambulance vehicles flashing their lights in synchronization to the tune of “Carol of the Bells” by Capital Kings.
The 3:15 video is the brain child of Capt. Jason Bostron, who spent 10 hours of his own time editing the video shot last week. By Sunday evening, the video has been seen by millions of Americans from coast to coast.
