HHS swims in league relays

    Holyoke High School was one of six swim teams to compete in the league relays in Windsor last Tuesday, Dec. 5. Different than the usual high school swim meet, this one was comprised of nine relays. Some were typical events, while others were unique to this meet.
    Despite having only 13 girls on the team — compared to other schools with 50 plus — HHS competed in every event. Coach Aly Brinkema said, “No matter who we placed in a relay, they consistently placed in the top three or four.” The team’s performance last Tuesday illustrated their depth and speed, Brinkema added.
    Dragon highlights from the league relays include three third-place finishes. The 200-yard freestyle relay included Traeli Hutches, Demiah Hernandez, Jackie Valenzuela and Amy Mackay, with a time of 2:06.28.
