Friends of NRA announce 2nd annual banquet

    “We had a great turnout at last year’s event that raised nearly $16,000,” said organizer Tracy Simpson. After the first successful fundraiser, Phillips County Friends of the National Rifle Association are planning another event.
    The second annual banquet will be held Saturday, Jan. 13, at 5 p.m. at the Phillips County Event Center. Sporting great food, special drawings and silent and live auctions, the event promises to be packed with fun.
    Other highlights include limited-edition firearms, art and outdoor merchandise. Happy Jacks Barbeque will cater a steak supper, and a cash bar will be open throughout the evening. Haxtun and Holyoke FFA chapters will be on hand to help set up and serve.
    Half of the proceeds will be set aside for local grants which can be applied for later through the state NRA. The other half of the funds will contribute to grants on a national scale.
