Boys basketball falls to Yuma
A night full of tough competition culminated in another Yuma win for the varsity boys. In the Jan. 19 home game, HHS lost 56-26, but the team fought hard.
Coach Scott Dille pointed out that Yuma does some things differently than most of the teams the Dragons face, and it’s hard to prepare for that in practice. “We did have a few possessions where we really moved the ball quickly which enabled us to get some great looks,” he added. “We need to find a way to be more consistent doing that.”
Right away, Friday night’s game was high-energy and fast-paced. Yuma, in particular, kept the ball moving. It quickly became evident that their offense was strong, and they scored 12 points in the first quarter. Though trailing by five after the first period, the Dragons remained within striking distance.
In the second quarter, Yuma really pulled away, racking up 18 points. “I thought our defense was pretty good at times,” Dille said, “but we need to find a way to make it tougher for teams to get good post-up opportunities.”
