    Aimee Ryel has taken over as the new district wildlife manager for Phillips and Sedgwick counties.
    Starting Feb. 7, the Peerless Theatre in Holyoke will be partnering with Christian Theatrical Releasing to bring faith-based family films to the screen.
    Dave Rice was inducted into the Colorado Dugout Club (formerly Colorado High School Baseball Coaches Association) Hall of Fame on Jan. 18. He was one of 10 inductees chosen from 125 nominees.
    Three news cameras and several other pieces are part of a donation to the HHS TV production department by KKTV 11 in Colorado Springs. The TV station has been in the process of moving to a new station and updating equipment, so they needed to find a new home for some of it.

    This past month, the Board of County Commissioners received word that the Phillips County Court House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places by the U.S. Department of the Interior on Dec. 26.
    Office headquarters for Wolf Auto Center and United Country Choice Real Estate are moving this week to the 400 block of East Denver Street. The businesses have been operating from 136 W. Denver St. since they opened the summer of 2006.
    HHS junior Phawn Carper and freshman Mallory Bennett were elected to FCCLA district officer positions at the Northeast Colorado District meeting.

Feb. 11, 1993

    Jack and Patricia McLavey purchased Holyoke Auto & Hardware from Toby and Eve Friemel of Imperial, Nebraska, with the transaction effective Feb. 1.
    Two Holyoke High School seniors in the Class of 1993 will be named recipients of $2,000 in scholarship awards, thanks to the Mary Ann Biddle Scholarship Fund, which was recently set up by Mary Ann’s husband Joel of Holyoke. As the fund grows, the initial $2,000 scholarships will increase equally until they reach $10,000, at which time another scholarship will be established, starting at the $2,000 level and growing until it reaches $10,000.
    Information pertaining to distance education technology or long-distance learning was reported by Re-1J School Board members Jim Austin and Brad Bradford. Phillips County Telephone Company manager Vince Kropp had invited the board members to attend a seminar on the subject in Denver.

Feb. 8, 1968

    Konnie Ham, daughter of the Keith Hams of Holyoke, has been selected to participate in the 1968 European study program of the all-student USA band, orchestra, chorus and jazz group this summer. The group will tour 11 European countries June 15-July 19.
    The Scholl Oil & Transportation Co. of Holyoke has purchased the Farm Supply Inc. building and adjoining lots, formerly the Stein Implement Co., from Mrs. Jo C. Stein. The Scholl business will be moved to this location, which will provide better facilities, and the Frank Duke Motor Co. will use the building which presently houses the Scholl office and shop.
    Dr. D.R. Griffith has been accepted for a residency at the University of Missouri School of Medicine in Columbia and plans to leave Holyoke in June.

Feb. 11, 1943

    The operation of shoe rationing, which became effective Feb. 7, will limit people to three pairs of shoes per year.
    At a meeting of the board of directors of the Phillips County Telephone Company Thursday of last week, it was decided to give free central service to all patrons during December if their dues and obligations are paid in full by Sept. 1.
    Wilbur Lyon, who for the past four years has operated a fruit and vegetable market in Holyoke, has moved his location two doors west to the building formerly occupied by the Jack Sprat Market.
