Pelton is candidate for H.D. 65

Rod Pelton, a lifelong farmer and a Cheyenne County commissioner, has announced his candidacy for the House District 65 seat, currently held by Rep. Jon Becker. “While these are huge shoes to fill, I’d devote as much time and effort to represent the 65th district as I’ve done in my current position as county commissioner,” Pelton said.
Pelton has been married to his wife, Kathy, for 38 years. They have two grown daughters and five grandkids. “We owe it to them to fight for the rights and freedoms that we’ve enjoyed,” he said. “While I come to this race with no agenda, I do have a very strong passion to protect rural Colorado and the Eastern Plains.”
In his sixth year as commissioner, Pelton has been the chairman for all but one of those years. In that role, he’s also been active at the state level, working with Becker and Sen. Jerry Sonnenberg to protect rural Colorado.
As a third-generation Cheyenne County farmer and rancher, Pelton lives on the same section that he was born and raised on. He’s owned and operated a custom harvest crew that traveled from Texas to North Dakota for many years. He currently has a registered Angus cow herd from which he sells seedstock.
He’s been elected twice to be the chair of the Ag, Wildlife and Rural Affairs Legislative Steering Committee at Colorado Counties, Inc.
