Governor candidate visits Holyoke

Democratic candidate for governor Mike Johnston visited Holyoke on Monday, March 12. He had heard the inspiring story of Los Parra’s owner Jaime Parra and wanted meet him in person. Johnston met Parra for lunch at the restaurant where they spoke in Spanish and discussed life in Holyoke, Parra’s experiences as a small business owner and the Latino community in eastern Colorado.
Johnston grew up supporting his family’s business running a small hotel on the Western Slope of Colorado, so he was able to relate to the challenges that small business owners like Parra face.
If elected governor, Johnston wants to cross divides to get big things done for Colorado — from increasing education funding to expanding affordable housing and providing job skills training for everyone in the state.
