Boys Scouts and Lions keep lapjacks flying off the griddle

Advertised as “short stacks for a big cause,” a successful and delicious flapjack feed was put on Sunday, March 18, by Boy Scout Troop and Pack 32. Aided by their chartered organization, Holyoke Lions Club, the scouts fed a total of 110 people and raised over $1,000 at the Lions Den.

They made hundreds of pancakes on a giant rotating griddle that was made by Haxtun FFA for the Haxtun Volunteer Fire Department. Nearby, sausages were cooked on a grill made from an old GMC pickup. Scouts made sure cups stayed filled with milk, orange juice, coffee or water and happily cleared the tables when people were done eating.
