Colorado Ag Day tantalizes taste buds at State Capitol
One of the 15 Farm to Fork culinary teams is led by Sen. Jerry Sonnenberg of Sterling, pictured in back left, and Ag Commissioner Don Brown of Yuma, pictured in back second from left, during the March 22 Colorado Ag Day at the Capitol — a welcome relief from a week of politics. The team was sponsored by Colorado Corn Growers and Colorado Farm Bureau. Chef Jason Morse, pictured second from right, prepared pork sliders, which took third place in the competition. Teams used the best of Colorado beef, lamb, vegetables, wheat and eggs to tantalize the taste buds of hundreds of hungry Capitol regulars and visitors. The annual celebration of ag also included an announcement by the Colorado Ag Council on their annual food donation to Feeding Colorado, which supplies food to five food banks statewide. The donation of 13 million pounds of food was valued at $23.2 million.
