Lady Dragons celebrate great basketball season
Following a fifth-place finish at the Colorado 2A state basketball tournament, Holyoke High School girls basketball team celebrated the season with family and friends Monday, April 2, in the HHS auditorium.
Coach John Baumgartner and assistant coach Ben Rahe reviewed some of the highlights and lowlights of the year and thanked the many people who supported the team.
“It was the most rewarding team I’ve ever coached,” said Baumgartner.
With a 20-7 record, it was the first time since 2008 that the team recorded 20 wins. It was also the first time since 2011 that the girls competed at the state tournament.
Baumgartner reported that senior Grace Dille led the state (all girls classifications) in most rebounds per game with an average of 14.5.
