Almost Pizza is an old recipe that Pat Warren has made for many years, so it’s proven itself as an easy go-to meal perfect for anyone’s recipe box.
Almost Pizza
7 cups thinly sliced potatoes
1 pound ground beef
1 11-ounce can condensed nacho cheese soup
1 cup milk
1 10.75-ounce can condensed tomato soup
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano crushed
1 13.5-ounce package sliced pepperoni or any favorite pizza topping
1-2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Place sliced potatoes in a greased 13-inch-by-9-inch dish. Set aside. In a large skillet, cook ground beef until brown. Drain off fat. Meanwhile, combine cheese soup and milk in a small sauce pan. Cook and stir over medium heat until heated through. In a mixing bowl, stir together tomato soup, onion, sugar and oregano.
Sprinkle ground beef over potatoes. Pour cheese mixture over all. Top with tomato soup mixture, pepperoni and mozzarella cheese. Cover and bake at 375 degrees for 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 hours until potatoes are tender. Let stand 5 minutes. Serves 8-10.
