April 24 marks Holyoke’s 130th anniversary. The town has humble beginnings in 1888 as the railroad brought development to northeast Colorado.
Library announces book club selections; tea party will have Revolutionary War theme
It’s time to get started reading this year’s selections for Heginbotham Library’s Tea Party Book Club. The three books give options for all reading levels so multiple generations can participate. Those interested should stop by the library and pick up a copy of “Johnny Tremain,” “Meet Felicity: An American Girl” or “Revolutionary War on Wednesday.”
A tea party and book talk is scheduled for Saturday, May 19, from 2-4 p.m. at the library, complete with delicious food and prize drawings.

MMH offers free diabetes education
A class on diabetes will be held Wednesday, April 25, at 2 p.m. at Melissa Memorial Hospital. Attendees will learn how to manage diabetes, reduce health risks and eat healthy. Julie Levy, registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator, will be leading the class. There will also be information presented in Spanish.
Swim day rescheduled for Sunday
A free swim day for kids at Holyoke’s pool will be Sunday, April 22, from 2-4 p.m. to celebrate the Week of the Young Child.
