“Explore” magazine is inserted in this week’s Enterprise. It’s packed full with information on festivals, day trips, restaurants, recreation and more — all in this corner of the state.
Memorial Day program is Monday
Memorial Day services are set for Monday, May 28, at 10 a.m. at Holyoke Cemetery. Guest speaker is Bob Russell, a 1964 HHS graduate who served in the Air Force. If there’s inclement weather, the event will be held at the Vets Hall.
To help put out flags, meet at the cemetery at 6 p.m. Friday, May 25, to put them out and at 6 p.m. Monday, May 28, to take them down.
A flag burning ceremony is set for Monday at 2 p.m. at the Vets Club parking lot. Drop off flags at the club before Monday if they need retired.
Bike program set for last day of school
After attending class in the morning, students in Holyoke School District will begin their summer break Friday, May 25. To fill the empty afternoon time slot, a bike safety program is being offered for kids age 12 and under from noon-4 p.m. at Holyoke Elementary School. Kids should bring their bikes and helmets.
The event is presented by Holyoke Emergency Medical Service, Melissa Memorial Hospital, Holyoke Police Department, Holyoke Volunteer Fire Department and Holyoke Elementary School. MMH, with assistance from Children’s Hospital, will be giving out helmets to kids who don’t have one or who have outgrown theirs. Holyoke Lions Club will be on site to hand out snacks provided by Holyoke Marketplace.
Enterprise office closed Monday
The Enterprise office will be closed all day Monday, May 28, for Memorial Day. Submissions received by Friday, May 25, are appreciated.
