Concert season features a capella, Tapestry, Beatlemania and Jersey pride
Phillips County Arts Council is pleased to announce the 2018-19 concert series line-up. Four exciting concerts have been scheduled for the upcoming season, and the membership drive is currently underway. The new season will feature a variety of musical performances to please all audiences, all located at Heginbotham Auditorium at Holyoke High School.
The season will kick off Wednesday, Oct. 24, with 7th Avenue, a vocal group brought together by Chris Rupp, the founder of Home Free, an a capella group that performed in Holyoke several years ago. 7th Avenue will present a wide variety of musical selections, ranging from “Can’t Stop the Feeling” by Justin Timberlake to “Hallelujah” written by Leonard Cohen to “At Last” by Etta James.
On Monday, Nov. 5, Tapestry — The Carole King Songbook will be performed by Suzanne O’Davis of Ontario, Canada. This show has been receiving incredible attention and standing ovations, playing to sold out audiences in Canada and the U.S. O’Davis channels the characteristics of King at the piano, and her comfortable stage presence endears her to audiences. Selections include “One Fine Day” and “It’s Going to Take Some Time.”
