Dennis Jelden is county coroner candidate
    With primary elections over, unaffiliated hopefuls had the opportunity to petition for a place on the Nov. 6 Phillips County general election ballot. Dennis Jelden successfully garnered enough signatures to be a candidate for Phillips County coroner.
    
Kids invited to Take Apart Day Aug. 1
    For kids ages 8-14 who have ever wanted to take apart an old toaster, computer or appliance, the Take Apart Day is the event for them. It’s set for Wednesday, Aug. 1, from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at Phillips County Museum. Drawing class to feature zentangle
    Needing to unwind after a long week? The First Friday event at Prairie Winds Art Center will feature a relaxing, meditative form of art called zentangle. It’s an easy-to-learn, fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured, repetitive patterns. Instructor Kathy Wernsman will be leading the class Friday, Aug. 3, at 7 p.m. There is a small fee, and all materials will be provided. To sign up, call Wernsman at 970-520-0639.
