8 returning letterwinners to lead 2018 Lady Dragon softball team

While the past few seasons have been growth years, fifth-year head coach Sherman Kage said he’s confident the seniors of Dragon softball are going to bring much-needed leadership and experience to the team.
“I think we look pretty good,” he said. “We have good key returning seniors and a good freshman core coming in.”
Pitchers Sarah Razo and Haley Van Overbeke have been continuing private lessons off the field. Last year, then-freshman Van Overbeke was forced to sub in for Razo following an injury. Kage said that today the pitching team is stronger than ever.
“Pitching has really been one of those things that’s guided us this past year,” he said. “We have our pitching under control, and a good catcher behind the plate,” referring to Haley Mavis.
He added that this year the team will be playing the game in a more flexible way, and adapting better to the action on the field.
There will be 16 players on the team, including returning letterwinners seniors Molly Brown and Mavis of Haxtun, Gabi Gordon, and Brooke Schneider of Revere; juniors Sirissa Casady of Julesburg, Razo and Shianne Willmon; and sophomore Van Overbeke.
