Eastern Colorado Community Fund donor spotlight

The Al and Rhoda Renzelman Vo-Ag Education Fund is part of the Eastern Colorado Community Fund portfolio, which is a grouping of all funds designated to benefit communities and charitable organizations in our region. All funds are managed by the Community Foundation of Northern Colorado, a 501c3 public charity.
The following is a Q & A with Lynette Harms regarding the Al and Rhoda Renzelman Vo-Ag Education Fund.
Why did you establish a fund with the Eastern Colorado Community Fund?
When my parents (Al and Rhoda Renzelman) passed away, I wanted to give as they had during their lifetime and honor them somehow in doing so. The Eastern Colorado Community Fund was available in our area, so I chose to utilize the services offered.
I also knew and trusted the director. His office is located in Haxtun so it was very convenient to drop by and get a scholarship fund set up. Both of my parents grew up on farms and were always involved in some way with agriculture. My dad taught Ag, worked with vocations and loved rural America. My mom was a big supporter as well, helping my dad get through college with a family at the age of 33. Together they made a difference not only in the lives of their kids, but others as well.
What services does the ECCF offer to your family and your fund?
The services offered by the ECCF include setting up of numerous types of charitable funds, including scholarships, funds designated for a specific interest or nonprofit, donor-advised funds for specific families and more. In Spring 2018, the ECCF partnered with a local church to host workshops on estate planning, an area of interest to our family’s particular situation.
