Sept. 12 info meeting to address club shooting sports team

    Youth and their parents from throughout the area who are interested in participating in a club shooting sports team are encouraged to attend an informational meeting Wednesday, Sept. 12, at 7 p.m. in the Biesemeier Room at the Phillips County Event Center in Holyoke.
    Carlton Nether, Scholastic Clay Target Program’s director of development for the western United States, will be the featured speaker at next week’s program.
    Holyoke parent Tracy Simpson has organized the event, upon learning that the Holyoke School District, at least for this coming year, will not be sponsoring a shooting sports team.
    As a result, Holyoke is attempting to organize a club team. Other area schools are invited, as well, to take advantage of the opportunity to interact with Nether.
    The meeting will be targeted to youth, as well as their parents, along with any interested community members.
    Simpson said Nether hopes to bring to the meeting some youth and adults who are currently part of organized club shooting sports teams.
