Brandt, Walz wed in South Dakota
On July 1, 2018, Rebecca Elaine Brandt and Sage Michael Joseph Walz were married at Kamp Kinship in the Black Hills near Deadwood, South Dakota. The camp has a special place in their hearts, as it’s where the couple met.
Rebecca is the daughter of Jerry and Debbie Brandt and the granddaughter of Paul and Betty Wickenkamp, Maxine Brandt and the late Carl Brandt. Sage is the son of Michael and Jennifer Walz and the grandson of Don and Linda Price, Gene and Jackie Murphy, and Loren and Nancy Walz.
The ceremony was held in the camp chapel, decorated in lavender and wildflowers. Randy Upgren officiated, and musicians were Alicia Reichenberger-Walz and Melissa Borr. The bride entered to Pachelbel’s Canon and was given away by her father. She wore a white A-line dress and carried a bouquet made up of dried white roses and wildflowers, including special flowers in remembrance of her grandpa Carl.
Standing by her side as bridesmaids were her sisters Jes-c French, Nicole Brandt and Danielle Brandt, sister of the groom Emma Walz, and friend Rachel Scullion. They wore sage-green dresses, each in her own style, and carried bouquets of wildflowers.
Groomsmen were Sage’s brothers Andrew Reichenberger-Walz and Lucas Walz, brother of the bride Anthony Brandt, and friends Mitchel Pilon and Jadon Schulz. Ring bearers were Bennett Walz and Tobias Walz, brothers of the groom.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held outdoors at the camp, surrounded by nature’s beauty. Guests enjoyed dinner, dancing and board games. The wedding cake was decorated to look like a tree trunk with the couple’s initials carved in a heart with lavender flowers.
The couple is residing in Bismarck, North Dakota, were Sage is studying nursing at University of Mary. He is a 2015 graduate of Century High School in Bismarck. Rebecca is a 2011 graduate of Holyoke High School and a 2015 graduate of Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska, where she studied pure and applied mathematics.
