Hospital’s 100th anniversary partygoers undeterred by cold weather
Melissa Memorial Hospital opened its doors to the community Oct. 4 for a lunch in celebration of the 100th anniversary of Holyoke’s first hospital opening. Cold weather called for a last-minute change from the planned picnic out in front of MMH, but the relocated meal in the ambulance bay went off without a hitch. About 150 community members enjoyed one another’s company over barbecue, the line for food snaking down the hallway. Hospital employees joined in the celebration, serving food, making sure there were enough tables and chairs, and spending time with their neighbors.
