Halloween fun offered to all ages in Holyoke

Whether you’re 2 or 92, there’s something for you to do in and around Holyoke for Halloween. Some events are scheduled for this weekend, Friday-Sunday, Oct. 26-28, while others fall directly on Halloween, Wednesday, Oct. 31.
    
Costume parade and contest
    The Lions Club 67th annual Halloween costume parade is Oct. 31 at 5:30 p.m. at the HHS old gym. All participants from birth through fifth grade will receive a prize, and first-, second- and third-place winners will be announced. Call 970-466-2493.
    
Trunk or Treat
    Melissa Memorial Hospital’s second annual Trunk or Treat event gives kids a safe environment to trick or treat in the MMH parking lot. Check out the decorated vehicles from 3:45-5:30 p.m. on Oct. 31. Call 970-854-2241.
    
Escape rooms and dance
    Escape rooms are coming to the Phillips County Fairgrounds Oct. 27 from noon to midnight. The Camper can hold a group of five, and the Asylum is for groups of 10 or less. Participants must be age 16 or older. Reservations are required by calling Kayla Kafka at 970-580-8019 or Mendi Lutze at 970-520-2220.
    That evening, adults age 21 and up are invited to a Halloween dance at Phillips County Event Center from 8 p.m.-midnight. There will be contests for costumes and pumpkin carving.
    Proceeds from both events will benefit the new Phillips County Pavilion and Education Center.
    Pumpkins and haunted ‘maize’
    The last weekend to experience the haunted corn “maize” at Pumpkins and More A-maiz-ing Farm is Oct. 26-28. Haunts run from 8-10 p.m. on Friday, 8-11 p.m. on Saturday and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday. Get to the patch early to put a name on the list. Groups up to six people will be taken at a time. It is not recommended for children under 13 without an adult.
    The pumpkin patch and other attractions are open on Friday from 4-10 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m.-11 p.m. and Sunday from noon-6 p.m. From Holyoke, drive 6 miles south on Highway 385 and 3.5 miles east on County Road 10. Call 970-580-2707.
    
Mission: Possible
    Youth Challenge is hosting a Halloween alternative Oct. 31 with an outdoor game called Mission: Possible. Students in grades 7-12 are invited to dinner at 6 p.m. with the game beginning at 7 p.m. at Camp Machasay, 61360 County Road 40, Amherst. Those wanting to carpool from Holyoke can meet in front of the Peerless at 6 p.m. Call 970-854-3863.
    
Glow bracelets
    Highline Electric Association wants to help keep trick-or-treaters safe this Halloween. Stop by the Holyoke office before 5 p.m. on Oct. 31 to pick up a glow bracelet. Call 970-854-2236.
    
Pumpkin contest

    Viaero Wireless in Holyoke is hosting a pumpkin decorating contest. Those who pick up a pumpkin from Viaero should take it back by Oct. 29. Community members can vote on their favorites by making donations that will support Dragon’s Wagon Preschool. Prizes will be awarded Oct. 31. Call 970-875-6003.
