Girls endure close loss to Wray
Holyoke girls basketball played a heated game against Wray last Thursday, Dec. 20, giving up a five-point first-quarter lead to lose 36-40.
Coach John Baumgartner said the team’s offense struggled to get points on the board, even as its defense kept Wray mostly in check.

Thursday’s game was just one in a particularly demanding block of games — Wray was ranked first in Class 2A in a Dec. 17 Colorado High School Activities Association poll, and upcoming games against No. 3-ranked Limon and Haxtun’s sixth-ranked 1A team promise more close action.
“They’re number one for a reason,” Baumgartner said of Wray.
