JV girls defeat Haxtun, Limon

     Holyoke junior varsity girls basketball won both of its recent games against Haxtun and Limon, 33-21 and 31-23, last Friday and Saturday, Jan. 11-12.
    
Holyoke 33, Haxtun 21
    Holyoke beat Haxtun offensively, outscoring its opponent for most of the game, and winning the game 33-21 despite a push by the Bulldogs in the final period.
    The Dragons built up a massive 18-point lead over the first two periods, keeping their opponent to single digits in each. In the third period, Haxtun scored 11 to Holyoke’s five, which closed the lead to 12 points, but failed to unseat the Dragons.
    Correy Koellner led the team in total points with nine, followed by Taylor Trumper and Lauren Herman seven, Ashley Rahe six and Kristin Vieselmeyer four.
