Dragon baseball sees loss to rival Bulldogs

    Following a pair of exciting wins earlier in the week, Holyoke High School baseball lost 4-3 and 14-7 at a Haxtun doubleheader Saturday, April 6. Though the first game was close, the Bulldogs took that momentum and ran with it for the second.

    The Dragons actually gained an early lead in the first game against Haxtun. Jesus Trejo and Slaten Burris scored runs in the first inning. When the Bulldogs went to bat, however, they rose to the challenge, scoring three runs of their own.
    In the third inning, Haxtun put up another, extending the lead to 4-2. After several scoreless innings for Holyoke, Blake Mosenteen scored one in the fifth. Unfortunately, that’s as far as the Dragons got, and the Bulldogs won 4-3.
    Mosenteen pitched the entire game, facing 26 batters. He struck out 11, walked two, and gave up six hits and three earned runs.
