Emerald Award recognition program is next Thursday evening
Community members are invited to a recognition program Thursday, April 25, celebrating the three winners of the 2019 Emerald Awards. The evening begins at 7 p.m. at the Peerless Theatre, with a reception in the multipurpose room following the program.
This year’s Heart Award recipient is Rhonda Mehring-Smith, JR/SR high art teacher. The Leader Among Us is Carly Daniel, science teacher for third and fourth grades. Melanie Wheeler is being recognized as the Innovator of the Year for her work in language arts for third and fourth grades. Look for a special section in next week’s Enterprise that will highlight each award winner as well as the Emerald Award sponsoring partners.
Economic development to host annual meeting
The annual membership meeting for Phillips County Economic Development Corporation is Monday, April 29, at the Paoli Town Hall. A dinner and program will begin at 6 p.m. The evening’s guest speaker is Tom Johnson, who will be speaking on “Rural Economics Looking into Hemp.” Four at-large positions, each with three-year terms, are up for election. Easter egg hunt is Saturday
Holyoke’s annual Easter egg hunt is scheduled for Saturday, April 20, at 1 p.m. in three locations. Age 6 and under will be at the Phillips County Courthouse Lawn, sponsored by Holyoke Lions Club. Students in grades 1 and 2 can meet at Holyoke City Park, sponsored by American Legion Post 90. Grades 3 and 4 will hunt for eggs at the school practice football field, sponsored by VFW Post 6482.
