Residents Rights’ guaranteed in long-term care facilities
At least once a year, I provide residents who live in long-term care facilities a detailed list of their national Residents’ Rights. They are as follows:
Adequate lighting, dignity, safe environment, life safety, private closet space, choice, having visitors, married couples sharing a room, notice before transfer, nutritional meals, information about rights, only certain reasons for transfer, freedom from chemical restraints, choice of physician, discharge planning, appropriate exercise, managing your own finances, unopened mail, information about your health status, participating in activities of choice, participating in resident groups, freedom from verbal abuse, choice of routine, privacy in treatment, appropriate health care, special diets, participating in community activities, good medical services,
Freedom from physical restraints, receiving proper assistant devices, private communication, freedom from reprisal, comfortable temperature levels, comfortable sound levels, reasonable accommodation of individual needs, religious freedom, written notice of bed hold policy, ample fluid, consideration, sexuality,
