Track strives with low numbers

Holyoke track and field team competed at the Yuma YW County Area Qualifier in Yuma last Tuesday, April 23, placing in multiple events despite missing several of its core members.
The team was 17 tracksters short due to FBLA obligations, which coach Corey Koberstein said also impacted the 10 other teams at the meet, leading to low attendance Tuesday.
On the bright side, he said it was an incentive for some of the team’s less prominent tracksters to shoot for placings usually snapped up by absent members.
Taking home the gold for Holyoke were Emma Oakley and Emali Torres in the 1600 meter run and shot put, respectively.
