Tight turns, tough cowgirls thrill at Thursday barrel races
Truly impressive horsemanship was at the center of the July 25 entertainment at Phillips County Fair. A number of cowgirls — and a few young cowboys — gathered at the arena for Thursday night’s barrel racing competition.
Action started off with a peewee division that elicited one “aw” after another as the tiniest competitors navigated the barrels. Youth followed before the open and senior divisions sped things up.
