Emerald Award winners announced

The Holyoke Enterprise and Holyoke School District, in partnership with local business sponsors, are pleased to announce the 2020 Emerald Award winners. Nic Balog, JR/SR high social studies teacher, is the Innovator of the Year. Elementary reading specialist Lynn Schneider won the Heart Award. The Leader Among Us is Christy Shafer, an elementary paraprofessional.

These three awards have been given annually, beginning in 2010, to acknowledge some of the key attributes of excellence in the education profession. An awards ceremony will honor the three recipients the evening of Thursday, April 23. A special section will also be inserted in the Enterprise that week to highlight the winners.
