Wilbur Salyards

Wilbur LeRoy Salyards was born Sept. 3, 1940, in Sterling to Stanley Lloyd Salyards and Mildred Era Kechl Salyards. Wilbur died at the Sedgwick County hospital in Julesburg on May 31, 2020.
On May 21, 1959, Wilbur married the love of his life, Sandra Fay Sterens.
Wilbur had many interests in his life. One of his favorites was going fishing, always trying to catch the big fish. He also enjoyed taking care of his yard at his home in Julesburg. Not only did he keep a nice yard, he also made sure that his flowers always looked adequate.
As far as employment goes for Wilbur, he was a self-employed trash truck driver. Wilbur also worked for Logan County, and while he was employed there he was mainly a truck driver. He then ran his own business, Salyards Backhoe and Trenching, for several years. Later in life, Wilbur went to work for the CDOT highway department.
Wilbur is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sandra Salyards; son, LeRoy Arlen Salyards; brother, Darrel and wife Joan Salyards of Cheyenne, Wyoming; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Wilbur was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Mildred Salyards.
