5 new LIFEPAKs offer more life-saving options

It’s got all the bells and whistles an emergency response team could ask for.

The LIFEPAK 15 monitor/defibrillator is innovative technology at its finest, and Brady Ring of the Melissa Memorial Hospital EMS department gave East Phillips County Hospital District board members a taste of what it could do at their regular meeting Tuesday, June 23.

Replacing 20-year-old machines that had far exceeded their life spans, five new LIFEPAKs are a breath of fresh air for staff members, who are undergoing extensive training to understand how to use the complex machines.

However, Ring said they’re very user-friendly. He’s excited for the wide range of functions the LIFEPAKs provide, including being able to wirelessly download reports straight into the hospital’s computer system. The portable machine is also insanely tough, he said, and will be a powerful tool in emergency situations.
