Kids get extra-long weekend

Holyoke School District students will not have class Friday afternoon, Jan. 15, due to an early release day. They also get the day off Monday, Jan. 18, because of a teacher inservice.

Mask order extended

Gov. Jared Polis extended Colorado’s mask order another 30 days from Jan. 6 in an effort to curb the spread of COVID-19.

The executive order requires people 11 or older to wear nonmedical face coverings over their nose and mouth while in public indoor spaces.

The order exempts the following individuals who:

— Cannot medically tolerate wearing a face covering.

— Are hearing impaired or otherwise disabled, or who are communicating with someone who is hearing impaired or otherwise disabled and where the ability to see the mouth is essential to communication.

— Are seated at a food service establishment.

— Are officiating at a life rite or religious service.

— Are exercising alone or with others from the individual’s household, and a face covering would interfere with the activity.

— Are receiving a personal service where the temporary removal of the face covering is necessary to perform the service.

— Enter a business or receive services and are asked to temporarily remove a face covering for identification purposes.

— Are actively engaged in a public safety role such as law enforcement, firefighters or emergency medical personnel.

— Are giving a speech for broadcast or an audience.

— Are alone in a room.
