Lynch Sr., Stella Oliver and Helen Fiedler. The club was organized Nov. 22, 1906. Originally a sewing club, meetings were held two days a month. The club sewed for the Red Cross and knitted sweaters and socks for service members during the Depression and war years. Over the years they contributed to churches, schools, hospitals, and numerous drives and scholarships. They are pictured at the F.G. SourceGas is now Black Hills Energy as Black Hills announced Feb. 12 its successful acquisition of SourceGas, the natural gas utility serving 429,000 customers in Arkansas, Colorado, Nebraska and Wyoming.

The Colorado Hawking Club will hold a mini meet in Holyoke Feb. 18-21. The hunters will travel around the countryside, hunting with their raptors. The public is invited to attend an informational session Feb. 19 at the Peerless Theatre, where a short presentation will be held to introduce visitors to the art of falconry.
Blye McCallum underwent a stem cell treatment Feb. 10 in Dusseldorf, Germany, to help with his cerebral palsy.
Mark Edmonds, Skyler Dittmer, Parker Redfern and Broc Pelle will head to the Colorado state wrestling championships Feb. 17-19 at the Pepsi Center in Denver.
HHS junior Laura Gerk set a new Holyoke school record in girls basketball at Thursday night’s game in Haxtun, making eight 3-pointers in a single basketball game.

With remodeling completed at the former KN Energy building at 116 N. Interocean Ave., the Holyoke Eye Care Center opened for business last Thursday. The new Eye Care Center is a cooperative venture between Melissa Memorial Hospital, optometrists John Paloucek and Gary Schreiner from Ogallala, Nebraska, and ophthalmologists Don Keller and Warren Tripp from Boulder.
Once again, Holyoke residents enjoyed a week of unseasonably warm temperatures for the month of February as highs reached 60 degrees most days during the past week.
Windy days and extremely dry weather have dominated the weather report for the past couple of weeks. Sand drifts were evident throughout the county, and ditches in the country were filled to road level. Residents reported near-blackout conditions as dirt blew across the countryside.

On Feb. 28, the Holyoke area will witness a new sport — rugby. Two Denver rivals, the Barbarians and the Highlanders, will stage an exhibition game at the Holyoke High School football field. Admission charge will be $1.
Introduction of a new and improved sugar beet seed was the highlight of a recent two-day meeting in Denver of the agricultural staff of The Great Western Sugar Company.
Pete Knight, Scoutmaster, Holyoke Boy Scout Troop 32, was presented the Copper Coyote award — one of Scouting’s highest awards — for outstanding service.

Candidates for mayor and six councilmen were named in a caucus of the Peoples Independent Party at the Town Hall here Friday evening. Dr. F.M. Means, party chairman, called the meeting to order but declined to serve longer.
The students of PCHS took an Intelligence Quotient test Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 12, to measure their mental ability — thinking power or the degree of maturity of their minds.
