Russell to speak at Memorial Day program

Lt. Col. Bob Russell will be the featured speaker at the local Memorial Day program Monday, May 31, at 10 a.m. at Holyoke Cemetery. Russell is a 1964 Holyoke High School graduate and a former fighter pilot who has retired from a career in the U.S. Air Force. Later that day, a flag burning ceremony will be held in the Vets Hall parking lot around 1:30-2 p.m.

 

Attorney general in town Thursday

Attorney General Phil Weiser is inviting residents to a Phillips County community meeting Thursday, May 27, from 2:30-3:30 p.m. at Phillips County Event Center. The event will focus on a conversation about the state’s response to the opioid crisis; protecting consumers; and protecting land, air and water. There will also be a time for questions and answers with Weiser. Registration is not required.

 

Enterprise closed Monday

The Holyoke Enterprise will be closed Monday, May 31, for Memorial Day. Any news and ads that can be submitted by the end of the day Friday, May 28, will be appreciated.

 

Senator to speak at Venango on Monday

The Venango, Nebraska, Legion Post 270 is hosting a Memorial Day service at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 31, at the Venango Cemetery with guest speaker Sen. Dan Hughes. Music will be provided by Heather From. There will not be a lunch this year due to COVID-19.
