Golfers gain experience at state

Holyoke golfers Emma Thompson and Erin Andersen gained valuable experience at the 3A state tournament at Elmwood Golf Course in Pueblo on Monday and Tuesday, June 21-22.

Thompson posted a 110 and a 106 in the two-day tournament. Andersen finished with a 118 and a 116.

Coach Nick Flaa said Thompson and Andersen were confident and determined to give it their best shot.

“The nerves were present early in the day,” Flaa said, “but both players were able to shake off early struggles and settled into their rounds nicely.”

Flaa said the mission going into the week was to clean up mistakes around the green and find a way to make some putts.

Both golfers were able to do this as Thompson and Andersen sank 25-foot putts on the fourth and ninth holes, respectively.
