Meals, socializing available for seniors at Meet & Eat

Meal programs offered by the Northeastern Colorado Area Agency on Aging are providing seniors with opportunities to eat and socialize.

Mandi Rogers, Phillips and Sedgwick County Senior Services Coordinator, said she and the organization are big advocates for the socialization of seniors. She also wants to include other seniors who might not be aware of the programs offered.

The Meet & Eat meals program provides meals through grants and is a free service for area seniors age 60 and over with a suggested donation of $4 per meal.

Meals are available Monday-Friday at noon at Sunset View in Holyoke. The Meet & Eat program offers a socializing atmosphere, and several people stay after the meal to play cards, dominoes, bingo, pool and other fun activities.

Those who are interested should contact Rogers at 970-630-7714 to complete the registration process or get more information.

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, many seniors had meals delivered to their homes. Home-delivered meals remain available for home-bound clients, but Rogers emphasized the importance of seniors socializing and trying to get back to the way they were before the pandemic.
