CDC provides guidance for fully vaccinated individuals

As COVID-19 continues to remain a factor in the world, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention continue to recommend getting a COVID-19 vaccine, offering protection from the delta variant, which seems to spread more easily and quickly than other variants. The CDC also says that studies suggest the current authorized vaccines work on the other variants circulating in the U.S.

According to the CDC website, people are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after their second dose of two-dose vaccines like Pfizer or Moderna and two weeks after a single dose of Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine.

The CDC’s guidance says fully-vaccinated people:

— Can resume activities they did prior to the pandemic.

— Should wear a mask indoors in public if they are in an area of substantial or high transmission. The CDC currently lists Phillips County as an area of moderate transmission.

— Can choose to wear a mask regardless of the level of transmission if they have weakened immune systems or if, because of their age or an underlying medical condition, they are at increased risk for severe disease, or if a member of their household has a weakened immune system, is at increased risk for severe disease or is unvaccinated.

— Do not need to get tested before or after travel in the U.S. or self-quarantine after travel.

— Do not need to get tested before leaving the U.S. unless the destination requires it.

— Need to show a negative test result or documentation of recovery from COVID-19 before boarding an international flight to the U.S.

— Should get tested three to five days after international travel.

— Do not need to self-quarantine after arriving in the U.S.

— Should get tested three to five days after exposure to someone who has COVID-19, even if they don’t have symptoms. They should also wear a mask indoors in public for 14 days following exposure or until the test result is negative. For a positive result, they should isolate for 10 days.
