It’s back-to-school time!

Look inside this week’s Enterprise for a back-to-school special section. It has important details about the new four-day school week, COVID-19 guidelines, school construction updates, transition tips for new junior highers, the reason behind school meal applications and the kickoff to the preschool school year.

School starts Tuesday, Aug. 24, for Holyoke JR/SR High School and Wednesday, Aug. 25, for Holyoke Elementary School.

3 school board seats up for election

Three seats are up for election in Holyoke School District Re-1J in the Nov. 2 election. The seats held by Patricia Wiebers, Jon Kleve and Brady Ring are open. Kleve and Ring indicated that they plan to seek reelection, while Wiebers is term-limited, having served for eight years.

Nomination petitions for those interested in seeking election are now available at the administration office. The deadline to return those is Friday, Aug. 27, at 2 p.m. Nomination petitions require the signatures of at least 25 eligible electors who are registered to vote in the school election.
