Register for flag football

City of Holyoke Recreation Department is accepting registrations for flag football for boys and girls in grades 1-4. Practices will be every Tuesday and Thursday. The deadline to register is Monday, Aug. 30. Find the registration form on the department’s Facebook page or contact Victoria Dunker at 970-580-3659 or recdirector@cityofholyoke-co.gov.

Alumni of the Plains nominations open

Nominations are now open for Alumni of the Plains inductees. To qualify, the person must have graduated from a high school in one of the 15 counties of Pro 15, which includes Phillips County. They can be leaders in their communities, excel on a federal or state level, be outstanding in their field or simply be awesome people who care about the area.

Some of those who have been honored in the past include a school teacher, astronaut, county commissioner, state department executive, champion rodeo clown, military official, sports trainer, author and so on.

Send the nominee’s name, how to contact them (preferably email) and why you think they should be considered to cathy@pro15.org by Monday, Aug. 23.

Swimming pool announces winter hours

Winter hours will start at Holyoke Swimming Pool on Saturday, Aug. 21. Open swim is Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 p.m. Lap swim is Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 6-7 a.m. and Monday-Thursday from 5-7 p.m. Water exercise is Monday and Wednesday from 5-6 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and Friday from 8-9:15 a.m.
