Firehouse Fashion & Fun set for Oct. 24
Local organizers are putting the “fun” in “fundraiser” with the Firehouse Fashion & Fun event scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 24, at 12:30 p.m. at Phillips County Event Center in Holyoke. Proceeds will go to a campaign for a new firehouse and equipment for Holyoke Volunteer Fire Department.
The family event will feature a fashion show with models displaying the latest trends from The Turquoise Chandelier, a boutique in Paoli. Items from those outfits will be available to purchase in a variety of sizes that same day, and a percentage of those sales will also go to the firehouse.
Don’t worry, your favorite past and present HVFD firefighters will also be modeling fun fashion statements for the crowd.
The afternoon will include both silent and live auctions as well as a meal and entertainment.
As of the beginning of September, nearly $800,000 has been committed for a new firehouse; however, an additional $300,000 is required to complete the inside of the building and purchase necessary equipment. A committee of concerned citizens organized this fundraiser to increase awareness of this vital need and begin raising these additional funds to ensure the continued safety of the community.
The fire department does so much, “so it’s our turn to be there for them,” said Penny Bailey, the style show event coordinator.
Firehouse Fashion & Fun tickets are available for individuals or tables of eight. Organizers are also looking for auction item donations and event sponsors.
To purchase tickets, contact committee chairs Allison Horton at 970-520-8391, Cherrie Brown at 970-520-5320, Penny Dockins at 970-520-2692 or Kim Young at 970-520-4876. Tickets are also available at The Turquoise Chandelier or Country Treasures Floral and More. For volunteer opportunities, contact Bailey at 575-791-8391.
